Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while officials has demanded "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and applying sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks follow periods of aerial attacks in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
